March 6, 2025Not Just Warming and Healthy, There are Economic Benefits of Massage Oil
Don't underestimate the potential of the community. Various resources can be processed into quality products. One is massage oil from herbal plants in Silawan Village, Belu Regency, East Nusa Tenggara. Agustina Rouk, an AIDS Care Community cadre, can see the tremendous potential of the natural resources around her. With the skills she has gained, she can produce massage oil, which is currently quite popular with the community.
"I'm glad that I can now produce my massage oil, which clients highly seek after," Agustina Rouk said. Herbal massage oil was her first creation, and now she always has extra on hand because the demand for it is constantly rising. "I am no longer afraid to produce large quantities of massage oil because there are always people buying every day," she stated.

The Making Process of Herbal Oil by Silawan AIDS Care Community
Agustina Rouk is from Silawan Village. She is known as a health cadre member of the AIDS Care Community and Catholic Youth and is active in her neighbourhood. She lives with her son, who is still in primary school. Her son often helps her find plant materials for massage oil and delivers them to customers.
Agustina received training in making massage oil from CD Bethesda YAKKUM. She gained new knowledge and skills through training in making massage oil from existing herbal plants such as broken bones, double deer, and amethyst leaves. Agustina also learnt about the health benefits of herbs. After attending the training, she took the initiative to organise a joint practice at the house of one of the AIDS Care Community cadres.
This massage oil is made as a group, but due to the busy schedule of other cadres, she often makes it herself. Agustina experienced difficulties; she could not buy production materials because she had limited money. In addition, she was overwhelmed in procuring bottles and bottle labels, but she kept trying. Agustina and her AIDS Care Community friends did it on their own. They once bought coconut oil for two medium-sized mineral water bottles made into massage oil; all sold out.
Now, her homemade massage oil is increasingly in demand. Her customers are satisfied and always reorder. They also say that her massage oil is suitable for all people, both adults and children.
Agustina hopes her business can grow and be more recognised by the public, attract additional capital, and obtain a business license. She is also eager to help spread the skills of making massage oil to others.
